Dog Gone Lies / Ted Clifton

We designed this P.I. mystery book cover for series author Ted Clifton and delivered it in e-book and paperback formats.

Dog Gone Lies, the first book in the Pacheco & Chino series, re-introduces Sheriff Ray Pacheco, who featured as a secondary character in Clifton’s earlier novel, The Bootlegger’s Legacy. Ray starts a new chapter of his life as a small-town private investigator, along with his partners, Apache fishing guide Tyee Chino and bait-shop owner Big Jack.

When an abandoned show dog appears at Ray’s cabin and the dog’s owner is reported missing, the trio are pulled into a mystery that leads them into confrontations with the local sherrif, the mayor, and the FBI. Meanwhile, two more bodies are found—neither of which is the missing woman.

The cover design reflects the rough-and-dangerous environment of the books, with the map backdrop showing Ray’s home in New Mexico. This book established the series style for the Pacheco & Chino books, and was continued with the second book, Sky High Stakes.
